The graves of 6 guerrillas of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) and Free Women’s Troops (YJA-STAR), who fell as martyrs in battle, and the victims of Turkey’s genocidal attacks in North Kurdistan in 2015, were attacked by unknown people. Families yesterday visited the cemetery, located in the Cizre district of Şırnak, to find out the devastation of the graves. They reported that the tombstones were broken, and the soil was excavated.
Hamşi Çağlı, mother of Osman Çağlı who was killed in Cizre in 2015, said, “We visited the cemetery yesterday to see that their gravestones had been broken. How can one ever disturb the dead? They killed our children, and now they are breaking their gravestones. This is an insult to us.”
Şemsiye Levent, mother of Mehmet Emin Levent who was also murdered in Cizre and whose grave was devastated, said, “These people cannot be Muslims. There are no rights or laws left. The graves of our children are attacked as if killing them was not enough. Let them devastate our graves, we will build them again.”
