Family of fallen BÖG Commander demands the body of their son

United Forces of Freedom (BÖG) Commander Aziz Güler (Rasih Kurtuluş) who has recently lost his life fighting ISIS gangs in Kobanê, is denied permission into Turkey from Rojava.

27-year-old Commander Aziz Güler (Rasih Kurtuluş) had been fighting in the ranks of United Forces of Freedom (BÖG) against fascist ISIS gangs in Kobanê town of West Kurdistan, Rojava, since November. He has recently lost his life as a result of a mine explosion during an operation on September 21.

While Güler's body is still being held in Rojava, his family keep waiting in the bordering Suruç district of Urfa to retrieve the body of their child.

Following talks with Urfa Governor İzzettin Küçük, HDP Urfa deputy İbrahim Ayhan quoted the governor as saying that; "The body will not be allowed into Turkey in line with an order from the Council of Ministers".

In the meantime, a petition has been started on change.org demanding the delivery of BÖG Commander's body to his family.

In a statement here, Güler's family called on Turkish authorities to respect their pain. Demanding permission to take the body of their beloved one, Güler family underlined that; “His body will rest in peace only in this land where he was born and grew up, and near his people and friends whom he loved very much.”

The family stated that they wanted to lay their child to rest in Istanbul where they live but the officials they have talked to so far insisted that no single body will be permitted from Rojava into Turkey.

"No law or regulation can get ahead of human values. Let us suffer our pain and respect it. Give us our son's body to partially lessen the unnameable pain of ours", the family said.
