Mosul Management System Project executive, Faris Cuweycatî said that solving the problems of other minorities, including the Yazidis, serves the interests of Iraq and the strengthening of Mosul Province. He noted that they will continue to work to implement this project, which was approved by the 13th law in the Iraqi parliament in 2008.
The Yazidi community was attacked by ISIS mercenaries in 2014. While Iraqi military forces and the KDP fled Shengal, leaving the Yazidi people in the hands of ISIS, the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas saved them from genocide. The Yazidis liberated from ISIS mercenaries declared an Autonomous Administration in Shengal. They later established YBŞ and YJŞ forces to defend the Shengal lands.
However, Shengal's autonomy is under threat. The Turkish state, KDP, the US and the Iraqi government are in cooperation to eliminate the Shengal Autonomous Administration. While the Iraqi government and KDP increased their attacks on the Yazidi people with the Shengal agreement, the invasion plans of the KDP, Kazimi and the Turkish state were not successful due to the resistance and will of the people. The attacks of the invading Turkish state and the Kazimi government's threats to the existence of the Shengal Autonomous Administration continue.
Faris Cuweycatî spoke to ANF about the project he presented to the Iraqi Parliament for the re-development of Mosul Province.
Autonomy is in Iraq’s interest
Faris Cuweycatî said that the aim of the project is to disarm Mosul and added: "We felt the need to present the project to the Mosul Administrative Region in order to serve the interests of Iraq, to strengthen the Mosul Province, and to solve the problems of the Yazidi people and other minorities. The Mosul project is a legal requirement under the Iraqi Constitution and was approved in the Iraqi parliament in 2008 by the 13th Act. We will continue our efforts to bring the Mosul project to life."
