In Bashurê (Southern) Kurdistan, the people have been on the streets for days holding demonstrations in support of the Resistance of the Age in Afrin. NGOs, parliamentarians and political party representatives demand the Faysh Khabur (Semelka) border crossing between Bashurê Kurdistan and Rojava to be opened so fundamental vital needs and medical necessities can be sent to Afrin.
As the Kurdistan region awaits its government to open the border gates and take a stand against the invasion attacks on Afrin, the government refuses to open the Faysh Khabur Border Crossing. Because the border gate is closed, the aid gathered for Afrin can’t be sent to the canton.
Afrin Front Member Newzad Salih stated that they can’t send the humanitarian aid and the medicine they collected to Afrin because the government doesn’t allow the border gates to be opened, and called on the government to open the gates at once so the necessary support can be given to Afrin.
Newzad Salih said they have several efforts in place to support Afrin and added: “We want the government to open the Sêmelka Border Gate between Rojava and Bashur at once. Then we can send the necessary aid to Afrin. If Afrin falls, Qamishlo, Duhoq, Hewlêr and Silêmanî will also fall. If it prevails, all will prevail. As the Afrin Front we have held various panel discussions, seminars and demonstrations. Now we want to take the necessary aid to Afrin. We want the government to open the border crossings so we can take the medicine we collected to Afrin.”
