The Qereqozax bridge, which connects Manbij with Kobanê, is one of the locations witnessing fierce clashes between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian National Army (SNA) gangs backed and fed by the occupying Turkish state. It was claimed that the bridge and the surrounding area, where the clashes continued for days, were captured by the Turkish state forces and the gangs they fed.
Journalist Nazım Daştan travelled to Qereqozax bridge, 30 km north of Tishrin Dam, and met with SDF fighters who maintain the security of the bridge and the surrounding area.
Rohat, one of the fighters on the Qereqozax front, where intense military deployment and 24-hour reconnaissance flights by the occupying Turkish army continue, stated the following to ANF: “There has been a fierce war here for 5 days, especially on the Qereqozax bridge side. There are both ground attacks and air strikes by Turkey. We are resisting both above ground and underground.”
YPJ fighter Avaşin Efrîn said, “Although we are resisting with great impossibilities and difficulties, we will be confronting the enemy until the end. We resist without slowing down. We resist for our leader, for our country, Kurdistan, and for our comrades. Qereqozax is in our hands. We are here right now. And we are resisting the attacks.”
Demhat, one of the fighters, said, “I bow with respect in front of our martyrs. I congratulate the resistance of our people. I congratulate all the friends on the Sirrîn, Kobanê and Tişrîn fronts. The occupying Turkish state wants to displace our people with the special war it is waging. It wants to commit genocide against our people. But we trust our people. Our people also trust us. Both our people and the enemy should know that we are in Qereqozax, we are in the tunnels, we are in the villages, we are in the city. We resist everywhere.”
