Five Êzidîs rescued near Deir ez-Zor, reunited with families
Five Êzidîs who had been abducted by ISIS gangs in Shengal on August 3, 2014 were rescued by fighters of the YJŞ and YPJ in Deir ez-Zor.
Five Êzidîs who had been abducted by ISIS gangs in Shengal on August 3, 2014 were rescued by fighters of the YJŞ and YPJ in Deir ez-Zor.
Hacî Qasim, Dexîl Tehlo, Sema Meran Ehmed, Mîan Ezîz Hesen and Ebdullah, who had been taken captive during the 73rd genocide in Shengal on August 3, 2014, have been freed from the clutches of the ISIS gangs by fighters of the Shengal Women's Units, YJŞ, and Women’s Defense Units, YPJ.
The Êzidî civilians rescued from ISIS in Deir ez-Zor operation were taken to Shengal where they were welcomed by Shengal Democratic Autonomy Assembly and the Movement of Free Êzidî Women (TAJÊ). The Shengalis first visited the Leader Apo Garden and the Martyr Dilgeş and Martyr Berxwedan Cemetery before reuniting with their families.
Speaking on behalf of TAJÊ after the families' reunion, Pakîze Celal Mirad expressed her happiness for the emancipation of the former ISIS captives and felicitated the fighters on rescuing the abducted Êzidîs from the clutches of ISIS gangs. Mirad thanked the fighters of the YJŞ, YPJ and SDF.
Speaking after, Qehta Xelîl on behalf of the Shengal Democratic Autonomy Assembly also expressed happiness about the rescue of the Êzidîs and thanked the YJŞ and YPJ fighters. Xelîl remarked that if it was not for the struggle of YJŞ fighters, they would not be able to free any captive from their community even with a million dinar.
Families of the rescued Êzidîs said to be relieved beyond words and extended thanks to the YJŞ and YPJ fighters for having freed the 5 captives from the hands of the ISIS, and wished them success.
