Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Kurdistan Islamic Group (Komala), Kurdistan Islam Movement, Yekgırtu and Goran Movement issued a joint statement in which they condemned the murder of RojNews reporter Vedat Hisen Ali and emphasized that basic human rights such as the freedom of expression were under serious risk in the region.

The five parties recalled that securing the safety of life and property was the most basic duty of the government, and demanded the immediate prosecution of those responsible for the murder.
