A forest fire has broken out in the countryside of Balveren town (Gundikê Melê) in the region of Mount Cudi. Hundreds of trees have burned and fields and gardens of the people in the area were also affected.
The concerned state institutions do not take any action against the fire. In some places, residents try to extinguish the fire by their own means. While the cause of the fire is unclear, local sources assume that the fire broke out due to artillery fire from the surrounding Turkish military posts.
Turkish bombardments had started another fire in the area of Mount Gabar located in between Şırnak city and its Cizre district a few days ago, reducing several trees to ashes.
