On July 24, Turkish military started a bombing campaign against guerrilla areas, which marked a new phase in the process of talks between the Turkish state and the Kurdish movement going on since early 2013.
While the airstrikes were accompanied by artillery attacks of the Turkish army, guerrillas responded to the attacks on the basis of self-defense.
The Kurdish Freedom Movement which had previously announced that attacks would not go unanswered in the event of continuing, started carrying out actions against Turkish forces in response to the increasing attacks that target guerrillas and their areas in South Kurdistan.
As Turkish authorities continue voicing determination to "continue the operations" and “end the PKK”, guerrillas also highlighted that they will no more remain silent to the attacks of the Turkish side as they have done so far since the beginning of the process of talks for a democratic and peaceful solution to the Kurdish question.
