Four people jailed in operation against TUAY-DER in Amed

Four people have been imprisoned in the political genocide operation that targeted TUAY-DER in Amed.

Police forces raided a number of houses in Amed on Tuesday morning as part of a political genocide ordered by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against TUAY-DER (Prisoners’ Families Solidarity Association).

As many as 22 people were detained in the operation, including Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Bağlar City Council member Vahit Doğru, TUAY-DER co-chair Mehmet Emin Güzel, executives Şafii Hayme, Hanım Akay, Müşeher Ülker, former members Leyla Ayaz, Abdulmenaf Kur and Hüsamettin Kılıç.

Five of the detainees were referred to court on Wednesday after the finalization of the procedures at the police department. TUAY-DER co-chair Mehmet Emin Güzel, executives Şafii Hayme and Müşeher Ülker were remanded in custody over the activities of TUAY-DER and their telephone conversations. They were accused of “membership to an illegal organization”. The association administrator Hanım Akay and a prisoner’s relative Kazım Yayık were released on condition of judicial control.

While eight more detainees have been referred to court today, TUAY-DER former administrator Abdulmenaf Kur has been imprisoned. Six were released on condition of judicial control and procedures continue for one of those detained.

HDP Bağlar City Council member Vahit Doğru, TUAY-DER former administrator Leyla Ayaz, Selahattin Çap, Medeni Kırtay, Haşim Temiz, İbrahim Temiz, Mehmet Temiz, Hüseyin Temiz and Fatma Gül remain in custody at the police department.
