Gorran welcomes Öcalan’s historic call, calls it a 'beginning'

The Gorran Movement welcomed Öcalan’s historic call and expressed its hope that it would be “the beginning for a solution and the achievement of Kurdish national rights”.

The Gorran (Change) Movement in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) released a written statement commenting on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan’s ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’, conveyed by the İmralı Delegation of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) in Istanbul on Thursday.

“We welcome Mr. Abdullah Öcalan's message that will form the basis for political dialogue and resolution, away from war and the use of weapons,” the Gorran Movement said on Friday.

“We hope that all parties will approach the issue responsibly and that this step will be the beginning of a political resolution to the problems and the achievement of Kurdish national rights,” the statement added.
