A group entered the Yeni Mahalle (Neighborhood) Cemetery where ARGK (People's Liberation Army of Kurdistan) and HPG (People’s Defense Forces) guerrillas are buried in Van city early Friday morning.
The group, reportedly wearing snow masks and carrying arms, attacked the graves of ARGK and HPG members, desecrating the graves and painting the writings on tombstones black.
People gathered at the cemetery on hearing about the incident and protested the attack in anger.
An eyewitness told that the assailants attacked the graves of fallen guerrillas chanting “Ya Allah bismillah” (In the name of God).
