HPG fighter Özgür Jiyanda is one of the guerrillas resisting the Turkish invasion of Metina. He says that the Turkish state has not been able to achieve any results so far and that the soldiers are scared in the face of the guerrillas' determination.
HPG (People's Defense Forces) declared two offensives, Cenga Xabûr and Bazên Zagrosê, against the Turkish military invasion launched on April 23 in the Zap, Avashin and Metina regions of South Kurdistan. HPG fighter Özgür Jiyanda is taking part in the revolutionary offensive Cenga Xabûr in the guerrilla area of Metina. He says that resistance against the Turkish occupation is taking place everywhere in Kurdistan.
"In the occupation operation in Metina, the Turkish army has encountered resistance from the guerrillas. The army has not been able to achieve any results at all and is not making any progress. The operation is being conducted from the border. So far, all attempts by the occupation forces to advance further have been met with resistance from guerrillas who have dealt them heavy blows as fierce fighting is taking place.
Our goal is to make 2021 the year of freedom for Leader Öcalan and Kurdistan. We will participate even more actively in the ‘Time of Freedom’ campaign launched by the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union). All our comrades adopt the same attitude”, Jiyanda concluded.
