Newroz was celebrated in a military ceremony by HPG and YJA Star guerrillas in the Garê area of Medya Defence Zones. Guerrilla commanders Xelat Şemsê, Dîlan Hogir and Şevger Himo said that they would secure physical freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in the 50th Newroz year.

'A YEAR FOR FREE LEADER AND KURDISTAN'

“We commemorate all the martyrs of the struggle with respect, beginning from Mazlum Doğan, Zekiye Alkan, Sema Yüce, Berivan and Rahşan. Undoubtedly, it was the resistance line of Mazlum, Kemal and Zekiye that illuminated our path. We commemorate these friends who gave meaning to Newroz with gratitude,” guerrilla commander Xelat Şemsê said.

“The Kurdish people are organizing themselves based on Öcalan's philosophy. Öcalan’s paradigm created the free woman. We will create a free and equal life with the philosophy of Öcalan. In this regard, we emphasize that we will make 2022 the year of Öcalan's freedom and the freedom of Kurdistan,” Şemsê noted.

'WE WILL CELEBRATE NEWROZ WITH ÖCALAN IN 2023'

“We reiterate our determination to celebrate Newroz with Öcalan in 2023 by raising the struggle. We believe that all our friends will fulfil their duties accordingly, and we say not without Öcalan,” Şemsê added.

'AKP-MHP IS CONTEMPORARY ZAHAK'

“We promise to celebrate Newroz with Öcalan in 2023. As the HPG guerrillas, we will not stop until we remove the occupation and liberate our people,” Şevger Himo said.

Himo also remarked on Turkish attacks on guerrilla areas.

“The Turkish army met with unprecedented resistance. The resistance has also shown that the guerrillas could never be defeated.  Contemporary Zahak, the AKP-MHP alliance is trying to hold on to power. However, the guerrillas, inspired by Kaveh the Blacksmith who defeated the tyrant ruler Zahak, are stoking up the Newroz fire on the Garê mountain.

'RESISTANCE FIRE IN MOUNTAINS'

Dilan Hogir, one of the YJA Star commanders, congratulated all the political prisoners, Kurdish leader Öcalan and Mazlum Doğan to mark the 50th anniversary of the Newroz.

“Newroz fires have been lit in all areas of freedom. The fire of freedom has been rekindled especially in the free mountains,” she said.

“Our struggle is the continuation of Newroz,” she added.
