Guerrillas hit Turkish soldiers in Çukurca, Hakkari

According to the HPG, guerrilla fighter Bawer Dengda lost his life in a Turkish air attack on the Zap region in Southern Kurdistan. Xakurke and Dersim regions were also bombed by Turkish jets.

The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement announcing the details of latest guerrilla operations and Turkish military attacks in Kurdistan territory.

According to the statement, guerrillas carried out a series of actions against the Turkish army on May 14 as part of the ‘Martyr Bager and Martyr Ronya Revolutionary Campaign’.

Guerrillas hit the military positions and shelters in the premises of the Girê outpost in Çukurca (Çelê) district of Hakkari at 8 am. The number of soldiers killed or wounded here couldn’t be clarified.

At 9 am, guerrillas targeted the Turkish units stationed on the Coordinate Hill in the same area. The hill, which is located on the border of the Medya Defence Zones in Southern Kurdistan, is one of the Turkish army's headquarters in the region and is an important coordination centre of the attacks on the guerrilla areas. According to the HPG, the area was targeted massive fire during the action. However, the number of soldiers killed and injured here could not be determined.

Following the action, fighter jets of the Turkish army bombed the Small Cilo area in the Zap region, in which a guerrilla fighter by the name of Bawer Dengda lost his life.

Operation in Dersim

HPG reported that on May 12, the Turkish army launched an air-supported military operation in the Dersim region in Northern Kurdistan, which focused on the Akfanus valley. In the course of the operation, the area was repeatedly bombed from the air. The same evening, the military withdrew from the region.

Air strikes against Xakurke

The HPG also reported further air strikes on the Xakurke region in the Medya Defense Zones of Southern Kurdistan. Accordingly, the areas of Şehîd Şahan and Şehîd Botan were bombed by fighter jets on 11 May. There were no guerrilla losses.
