Guerrillas hit Turkish soldiers in Bingöl, Çukurca and Şemdinli

HPG reported continued actions by guerrillas in Northern Kurdistan.

HPG Press Office released a statement providing information about the actions conducted by guerrillas in Bingöl, Çukurca and Şemdinli regions.

BİNGÖL

At 16:30 on May 12, guerrillas hit a Turkish military unit in Akdağ region in the countryside of Bingöl's Geç district. While guerrillas' effective strikes at close range left three soldiers dead, Turkish army started an operation in the area following the action.

SİİRT

Turkish army launched an operation in Gırê Kaç and Çemê Karê hamlets in Siirt's Herekol region on May 11. While the operation area was shelled by Turkish forces with howitzer and mortar fire, Sikorsky helicopters supported by Cobra helicopters airdropped troops in Martyr Azime, Gırê Martyr Berxwedan and Martyr Resul areas at 03:00 on May 12. Sporadic clashes erupted between guerrillas and soldiers.

ÇUKURCA

At 23:00 on May 12, guerrillas hit the soldiers on Koordine hill in Hakkari’s Çelê (Çukurca) district. Following clashes between guerrillas and soldiers that lasted for an hour, Turkish army shelled the scene as well as Cilo, Kınyanış and Şamkê areas with howitzer and mortar fire till the morning hours. At between 02.00 - 03.00 midnight, Turkish jets also conducted bombardments. Details about the action will be announced later on.

ŞEMZİNAN

At 04:00 on May 13, guerrillas hit the soldiers on Leylek hill in Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district with heavy weapons. The number of soldiers killed or wounded here couldn't be clarified.
