Guerrillas shoot down two Turkish army drones

Two Turkish army drones loaded with explosives were shot down by guerrillas, and a military position was also destroyed in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

HPG (People’s Defense Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) continue their resistance against the Turkish invasion in the Medya Defense Zones unabated, according to the daily statement of the HPG Press Office. On Thursday, two drones of the occupying forces were shot down over the Girê FM west of Zap and the Şehîd Adil tunnel massif. The guerrillas also took action against the occupying forces in other areas of southern Kurdistan the previous day.

In Xakurke, Turkish forces came under fire with heavy weapons. It is not known whether there were casualties in the ranks of the Turkish army. Military personnel in the resistance area of Çemço were also targeted by guerrillas.

In Metîna, two attempts by the occupiers to advance on Girê Amêdî were repelled by guerrillas with hand grenades and light weapons. In addition, guerrillas carried out two sabotage actions. YJA Star guerrillas also destroyed two camera surveillance systems that had been installed around the massif.

On Friday morning, the guerrillas carried out a two-front assault on a Turkish military guard in Kanî Masî. Guerrillas established the death of two soldiers for certain, while one military position was completely destroyed. A Turkish military position raised on Girê Amêdî was attacked on Tuesday and largely destroyed.

Regarding the attacks by the Turkish army, HPG said that the Turkish army used chemical weapons and explosives four times against guerrilla positions on Thursday. The Girê Amêdî was reportedly attacked with phosphorus bombs. Fighter jets bombed the areas of Girê Bihar, Sîda, Saca, Çemço and Girê FM ten times, and the resistance area of Şikefta Birîndara came under fire twice from attack helicopters. Shells fired from Turkish outposts also hit the area, as well as at Girê Cûdî and Çemço.
