Halfeti Co-mayor and Municipal Council members detained in Urfa
Halfeti Co-mayor Mustafa Bayram, DBP’s Bozova and Hilvan Municipal Council members and several party members have been detained in Urfa in line with the political genocide operations carried out by the AKP regime.

A large group of people including Halfeti co-mayors, municipal council members and party members have been detained in line with the Urfa-based political genocide attacks on DBP members. Following a house raid on DBP Co-mayor Mustafa Bayram in Halfeti, he was taken to Halfeti Municipality and then detained after a search was conducted. In the search in Bayram’s home, the police confiscated computers, telephones, posters with the Halfeti Co-mayors’ photographs and dresses and banners in colors green, yellow and red. Computers and many documents were confiscated in the search in the municipality and the mayor’s office.
CO-MAYOR DETAINED
Halfeti Municipality building was surrounded by riot police and special operations police, armored vehicles were positioned in the front yard and nobody was allowed inside. After the search and confiscations, Co-mayor Mustafa Bayram and the tea maker of the municipality were detained. People gathered outside chanted slogans while Bayram was put into the police vehicle in handcuffs.
MUNICIPALITY UNDER BLOCKADE
According to lawyers, while the blockade in the municipality continues, Bayram and the tea maker were taken to the police headquarters. The Halfeti residents gathered in front of the Halfeti government office and they are still waiting there. Bayram will be taken to Urfa city center.
DBP MUNICIPAL COUNCIL MEMBERS DETAINED
Meanwhile, one municipal council member from DBP’s Bozova Municipality and DBP’s Hilvan Municipality council member Sibel Sütpak were detained in the simultaneous raids. Several party members are reported to be detained in Viranşehir district as well.
A total of 24 people have been detained in Urfa including Halfeti Co-mayor Mustafa Bayram.
