Hawl is more free now as people return home after 8 months

People living in Hawl before the gangs' invasion have returned to their town after QSD’s liberation operation.

Hawl was liberated on November 13 in the operation started by Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) to liberate the south of Hesekê on October 30, 2015 and has reunited with her citizens after 8 months.

QSD forces special units finished their searches in the town and people were allowed back in.

A ceremony held while thousands returned to the town was attended by Abdulsamet Ahmet from the TEV-DEM Public Relations Committee, Ekrem Mekşul from the Democratic Autonomy Administration and Zana Cudi from the YPG Hawl Public Relations Committee.

“ISIS HAD PLANTED MINES ALL OVER”

Speaking here, Zana Cudi stated that people’s return to the town was delayed by the mines and said, “Hawl is an important place for us. This is why the ISIS gangs had planted mines all over it. This people have suffered greatly. They were under ISIS occupation for two years. Hawl is more free now. Welcome back home.”

The mood was very excited and positive in the return process.
