Hospitals in Hakkari overflowing with dead soldiers

The morgues in the hospitals in Hakkari are overflowing with the bodies of Turkish soldiers. It is becoming increasingly difficult for the Turkish state to recover its high losses.

While the Turkish state is doing its utmost to keep its heavy losses secret, the morgues in the hospitals in the Kurdish border province of Hakkari are overflowing. According to a report by the Mezopotamya news agency (MA), the bodies of 27 Turkish soldiers have been brought to hospitals in the province of Hakkari and in Yüksekova district in the past four days alone. There is no more room in the refrigerated warehouses. Freighters with corpses keep flying from the airport in Yüksekova to western Turkey.

According to reports from so-called village guards involved in the attacks, the clashes have intensified, especially in the Zap region. The village guards say that many dead bodies have been lying in the fields for days due to the fierce clashes. In addition, 150 injured soldiers are currently being treated at the Hakkari Mountain Brigade headquarters.

According to a tally by the People's Defense Forces (HPG), 985 Turkish soldiers were killed between 14 May and 14 June, two of whom were high-ranking. Accordingly, the guerrillas carried out 744 actions during this period. In the past month, the frequency of actions seems to have increased even further, with dozens of soldiers killed being reported almost daily. The guerrillas are extremely effective in defending the region against the Turkish invasion with a combination of tunnel warfare and mobile units.
