Hozat: KDP endangers the autonomous status of Southern Kurdistan

Besê Hozat of the KCK points out that the Barzani family sends its own armed units into guerrilla areas and that the joint war plans with Turkey endanger the autonomous status of Southern Kurdistan.

Besê Hozat, co-chair of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council, spoke on current political issues in a special program broadcast on Medya Haber TV on Monday evening. A special focus of the program was the developments in Southern Kurdistan, which run parallel to the occupation attacks of Turkey.

Hozat criticized the policy of the Southern Kurdistan’s ruling party KDP as extremely dangerous for all Kurds and pointed out that the Barzani family sends its own armed units into guerrilla areas.

We publish below an excerpt from Besê Hozat's statements on Southern Kurdistan:

"Turkey is waging a war of extermination. The current position of the KDP must be assessed in this context. Turkey wants to destroy all Kurdish achievements. Through the Kurdish genocide it wants to establish a new regime as a Turkish-Islamic synthesis. Its goal for 2023 is to establish a regime of religious fanaticism, nationalism and racism.

For this goal, among others, an occupation attack is taking place in Bashur [Southern Kurdistan]. Hundreds of people from the civilian population have already lost their lives. Military bases are being built in all places that the Turkish state reaches. Step by step, the entire region is meant to be occupied as far as Kirkuk and Southern Kurdistan is to be annexed.

This attack is taking place with the support of the KDP. It will also mean its own end. Turkey is ruled by a murderous and colonialist regime. What the KDP expects from this must be understood exactly. Most recently, the PUK [Patriotic Union of Kurdistan] has commented on the developments. Sedi Pire explained that the Turkish state has occupied Behdinan and the PUK does not know what the KDP has agreed to with the AKP/MHP government of Turkey. The PUK sees the danger of an occupation of Southern Kurdistan. Gorran and other organizations have also expressed their concern and they question what is happening.

What did the fascist Turkish government promise the KDP in Gare, for example? The Peshmerga do not want to go there, they do not want to participate in the occupation attacks on the Medya Defense Zones. Neither the population nor the peshmerga want that. For this reason the Zerevan units are stationed in Gare. This is a special unit. The Peshmerga units that were previously sent to the Medya Defense Zones will be withdrawn, in their place the Zerevan units will be deployed. The Zerevan are special units of the Barzani family. The KDP knows that the Peshmerga do not want to go to this war. There is therefore a special plan by the KDP and Turkey. Zerevan units are stationed where the Turkish state cannot invade. They are deployed between the guerrilla areas in order to break the connection from one area to the next. The connecting routes are meant to be blocked. The guerrillas are meant to be pushed back to one place so that the Turkish state can crush them.

What is happening at the moment is preparation for war. The current situation is extremely dangerous. At the moment, the KDP is giving the impression that it wants to carry out a comprehensive attack together with the Turkish state. This is what the preparations indicate. A joint declaration of war with Turkey is a very dangerous plan, which means the end of the KDP and the destruction of all achievements in the south and the other parts of Kurdistan. With the implementation of this plan, Southern Kurdistan will lose its status of an autonomous region. The KDP must refrain from this dangerous policy because it will make all Kurds lose their status. Once the resisting Kurdish forces are smashed, the collaborating Kurds will also be affected. The Kurdish people should not have to experience such a tragedy again."
