HPG: 1 commander, 2 sergeants, and more than 6 soldiers killed in Van

HPG Media Center announced that Çaldıran District Gendarme Commander Kıvanç Cesur, 2 sergeants, and more than 6 soldiers were killed during yesterday’s sabotage action between Çaldıran and Bazid.

HPG issued a written statement on guerilla actions in Van and Şırnak, and said that guerillas put up a great resistance against the destructive attacks and occupation of the Turkish army.

SABOTAGE ACTION IN VAN’S ÇALDIRAN DISTRICT

The Media Center announced that guerillas blocked the road between Van’s Çaldıran district and Ağrı’s Bazid district and burned 6 vehicles belonging to the Turkish state at 11:30 on May 24. The guerillas carried out a sabotage action on the same road against a Kirpi-type armored vehicle carrying Turkish soldiers at 17:00, and Çaldıran District Gendarme Commander Kıvanç Cesur, 2 sergeants, and more than 6 soldiers were killed during the sabotage action.

ACTION ON THE VAN-HAKKARİ ROAD

HPG stated that guerillas carried out another sabotage action against soldiers in a Kirpi-type armored vehicle on the Van-Hakkari road at 21:30 on May 23, and the numbers of dead and injured guerillas have not yet been clarified.

OPERATION IN ŞIRNAK

The Media Center said that the Turkish army launched an operation in the Setkarê village of Şırnak’s Beytüşşebap district at 11:00 on May 22, raided houses in this village on May 23, and withdrew without yielding any results on May 24.

ACTION IN OREMAR

HPG stated that guerillas hit 2 diggers constructing a road near Leylek Hill in the Oremar region of Hakkari’s Yüksekova district at 10:45 on May 24, and stopped the construction of the road.

HPG guerillas also hit a digger constructing a road near the Martyr Kendal Hill of Şırnak’s Uludere district at 11:00 on May 24, and stopped the construction of the road.
