HPG: 11 Turkish soldiers killed in southern Kurdistan

Guerrillas continue their actions against the Turkish occupant army in Kurdistan.

The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement announcing the results of the actions carried out against the Turkish army in memory of guerrilla fighter Beritan (Gülnaz Karataş) who became immortal on 25 October 1992 after refusing to surrender to the enemy.

HEFTANIN

According to the statement, guerrillas hit the Turkish army as part of the ongoing Battle of Heftanin Revolutionary Campaign in guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

One of the Turkish soldiers stationed on Hill Konferans was killed by YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) sniper units on October 19.

In the afternoon of October 21, YJA Star guerrillas targeted the Turkish soldiers stationed in Martyr Şexmus area, which left a soldier dead.

XAKURKE

On October 21, guerrillas carried out actions against the Turkish army as part of the ongoin Martyr Bager and Martyr Ronya Revolutionary Campaign in Xakurke region of Medya Defense Zones.

YJA Star guerrillas hit a Turkish military unit stationed near Hill Koordine in the early mornin hours. While the positions and shelters of the Turkish forces were struck effectively from two sides, six soldiers were confirmed killed here.

At around 10 am, guerrillas targeted the Turkish soldiers stationed on Hill Martyr Botan, leaving a soldier dead.

In the evening hours, two of the soldiers stationed on Hill Martyr Derweş were killed in targeted actions.

ŞIRNAK

In the morning of October 20, YJA Star guerrillas targeted the Turkish soldiers and contras in the countryside of Şırnak’s Uludere district. While a vehicle of the Turkish army was destroyed, the number of casualties left here couldn’t be clarified. Guerrillas also hit and damaged a Turkish attack helicopter dispatched to the scene for intervention, forcing it to retreat from the area.
