HPG: 18 soldiers killed in actions by guerrillas

HPG announced that at least 18 soldiers of the Turkish army were killed as result of actions by guerrillas in Northern Kurdistan territory.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office released the following statement providing information about the recent actions carried out by guerrillas in the countryside of Hakkari, Bingöl and Bitlis provinces in Northern Kurdistan.

HAKKARİ

At 04:00 on May 29, guerrillas conducted targeted actions against the soldiers stationed on Martyr Rahime hill in Oremar region in Hakkari’s Gever (Yüksekova) district, which left 2 soldiers dead.

At 08:40 on May 29, guerrillas hit the soldiers stationed on Elişêr hill in Hakkari’s Gever (Yüksekova) district. Effective strikes from three directions left two emplacements destroyed and 15 soldiers dead. One guerrilla fell a martyr during the action.

At 14:45 on May 29, guerrillas targeted the Turkish troops deployed on Hill Çeta in Hakkari's Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district. While the number of soldiers killed or wounded in the action couldn't be clarified, Turkish army shelled the scene and surroundings with mortar and howitzer fire afterwards.

BİNGÖL

On May 28, YJA Star guerrillas infiltrated into the position of a disguised Turkish military unit after their leave from Suveren outpost in Akdağ region of Bingöl. The number of soldiers killed or wounded in the action couldn't be clarified.

At 03:30 on May 29, Turkish Cobra helicopters and troops at Suveren outpost bombarded the scene and surroundings with tanks, in addition to mortar and howitzer fire.

BİTLİS

At 16:00 on May 26, guerrillas engaged in a clash with Turkish soldiers near the Papıznıx bridge in Bitlis. One soldier was killed during the clash and one guerrilla was martyred.
