HPG: 19 Turkish soldiers killed, 6 helicopters damaged

HPG reported that 19 Turkish soldiers were killed, 2 others injured, 6 helicopters damaged and one drone was shot down in a series of actions by guerrillas in Medya Defense Zones where an invasion operation by the Turkish army continues.

The Press Center of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement providing information in the latest actions by guerrillas and attacks by the Turkish army in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

“The occupying Turkish army has once again resorted to vicious methods and used toxic chemical gases during the battle as it fails to advance against our forces inflicting heavy blows on them. Despite all the dirty war methods employed by the occupying Turkish army, which has committed war crimes using chemical weapons, the historic resistance of our forces and the effective actions of our mobile teams continue,” said the HPG Press Center.

As a result of the actions by guerrilla forces, 19 Turkish soldiers were killed, 2 more were injured, 6 helicopters damaged, and one drone shot down, according to the statement.

HPG listed the details of the guerrilla actions and Turkish attacks as follows:

IN THE AVAŞIN REGION

On April 21, the Turkish troops seeking to bomb the battle positions in the Werxelê Resistance Area with explosives were targeted by our forces and one Turkish soldier was killed. At noon on the same day, one Turkish soldier who attempted to place a surveillance camera around the resistance area was killed by our forces.

On April 23, between 01:30 and 17:00, the Turkish army bombed the battle positions in the Werxelê Resistance Area. During the same hours, the Turkish troops trying to advance in the area were shot by our forces, which forced them to retreat.

On April 23, at night, the Turkish army attempted to airdrop troops by helicopters after bombing the Werxelê Resistance Area. Following the intervention of our forces, one attack helicopter and one Sikorsky helicopter were hit and damaged and had to move away from the area.

On April 23, at 01:30, our forces struck the Turkish helicopters that attempted to bomb and airdrop troops in the Girê Rûbar, Girê Cûdî, Martyr Kendal, Martyr Yunus and Martyr Zagros areas and fierce clashes took place. As a result of the coordinated and effective strikes by forces, four Sikorsky helicopters were hit, damaged and forced to leave the area.

IN THE ZAP REGION

On April 22, at 15:00, the mobile Turkish troops in the Girê Armanc in the Çiyareş area were shot by YJA Star forces at close range. As a result of this action, two Turkish soldiers were killed and one drone operating over the area was shot down.

On April 23, at 10:50 and 11:50, the mobile Turkish troops in the Girê Şehîd Cûdî Resistance Area were hit twice by our forces using sabotage tactics. As a result of these actions, at least three Turkish soldiers were killed.

In the morning hours of April 23, the Turkish army attempted to enter the battle positions in the Şikefta Birîndara Resistance Area. Following the intervention of our forces, fierce clashes took place in the area, as a result of which ten Turkish soldiers were killed and two more were injured.

On April 23, at 18:30, Turkish soldiers attempting to take positions in the Girê Rûbar were targeted by our forces and one of them was killed.

On April 23 at night, our forces targeted the Turkish helicopters that sought to airdrop troops in the Girê Rûbar and Girê Şehîd Kendal areas. As a result of the intervention of our forces, the helicopters had to leave the area.

On April 23 at 10:00, the mobile Turkish troops around Girê Şehîd Şahin were shot by our forces and one of them was killed.

On April 23, at 08:30 and 12:00, the Turkish troops around the Girê Ortê battle positions in the Girê Karker area were hit by our forces with heavy weapons. The targets were hit accurately.

In the morning hours of April 23, the Turkish army bombed Girê Şehîd Cûdî in the Karker Resistance Area and the battle positions of Kurojahro Resistance Area with explosives and chemical weapons.

TURKISH GROUND AND AERIAL ATTACKS CONTINUE

On April 22, at 23:00, the Zap River area and Kurojahro Resistance Area were bombed by Turkish fighter jets.

On April 23 at night, Turkish helicopter mobility took place over Girê Cûdî, Şikefta Birîndara, Girê Rûbar, Kurojahro, Girê Cehennem and Çiyayereş Resistance Areas in the Zap region. On the same day, the Şehîd Şahin area was bombed by attack helicopters.

On April 23 and 24, the Girê Cûdî area in ​​the Zap region was bombed with howitzers fired from the Turkish military outposts on the border line.

On April 23, between 12:00 and 23:40, the Girê Cûdî, Şehîd Zagros, Girê Bihar and Girê FM areas in the Zap region were bombed 9 times by Turkish fighter jets.

On April 23, between 16:30 and 16:50, the Çemço area in ​​the Zap region was bombed with howitzers fired from the Turkish military outposts at the border.”
