Two guerrilla fighters martyred in Metîna
On 7 September, guerrilla fighters struck the Turkish occupation forces at Girê Hekarî in Metîna in a coordinated action. The soldiers fled into the area and fierce fighting ensued, in which at least five occupiers were killed. HPG fighters Çayan Goran and Şahin Bahoz fell as martyrs during the action, whose identity details are as follows:
Nom de Guerre: Çayan Goran |
Nom de Guerre: Şahin Bahoz |
Çayan Goran
Çayan Goran came from Özalp district of Van and grew up in a family close to the PKK. According to HPG, his mother died because of the anti- Kurdish policies of the Turkish state and Çayan Goran became active in the Kurdish youth movement. As he once said himself, "the door to freedom opened for him with the first stone thrown at the enemy". He came to terms with the ideology of Abdullah Öcalan and questioned his own personality, which was shaped by the patriarchal system of rule. His successful practice in youth work also caught the attention of the state and he was arrested. After his release, he joined the guerrillas in 2013.
In the mountains, Çayan Goran initially stayed mainly in Avaşîn before going to Şengal in 2014 to defend the Yazidi community against ISIS. There he gained his first combat experience and proved to be a courageous militant who could benefit from the experiences of great commanders such as Agid Civyan, Dilşêr Herekol and Çeko Çatak. After completing his task in Şengal, Çayan Goran returned to the mountains and went to Northern Kurdistan at his own request, where he fought in Besta and Van. He then moved to the Medya Defense Zones to reflect on his previous practice and to further his education. He then became commander of a mobile unit in Metîna and carried out successful surprise actions against the invading forces. The HPG described Çayan Goran as a natural and humble person who became a leading commander of modern guerrillas.
Şahin Bahoz
Şahin Bahoz was born in Kobanê and grew up in an environment close to the Kurdish liberation movement. He began working for a living at an early age. His relatives were killed defending Kobanê against ISIS. The struggle for Kobanê changed his life and he became involved in revolutionary work. For economic reasons, he went to Southern Kurdistan, where he finally joined the guerrillas in 2016.
In the mountains, he completed basic training and participated in guerrilla life without reservations and with great joy. He learned the professional use of heavy weapons and went to Behdînan and Metîna, where he took part in the revolutionary guerrilla offensive against the Turkish occupation and fought in mobile units. HPG described Şahin Bahoz as a sincere companion who, full of rage against the enemy, focused on victory and was appreciated in his environment.
HPG expressed their condolences to the relatives of the martyrs and to the Kurdish people.
Action against a Turkish unit in Avaşîn
At Girê Şehîd Munzur in the Mamreşo area of Avaşîn, mobile guerrilla groups observed a road constructed for military purposes and carried out a coordinated action with firearms and hand grenades from three flanks on 8 September, targeting a Turkish unit consisting of 29 people tasked with the security of the military road. Eight soldiers were killed and three soldiers seriously injured in the action. HPG dedicated the action to retaliation for the guerrillas killed with chemical weapons at Girê Sor.
Sniper and sabotage tactics
One soldier was shot dead at Girê Sor on Friday, and two others in the Karker area of the Zap region. One soldier suffered gunshot wounds. In the resistance area of Şehîd Fedakar in the Zap, guerrillas hit the occupation forces with heavy weapons. Early on Saturday morning, an action of sabotage was carried out against a Turkish unit that was about to use chemical weapons against the Şehîd Bahoz position.
