HPG: 21 soldiers killed in a series of actions by guerrillas
At least 21 soldiers of the Turkish army were killed and many others were wounded as result of actions by guerrillas.
HPG Media Center announced the results of the actions carried out by guerrillas in the countryside of Bitlis, Şırnak and Hakkari provinces, North Kurdistan.
BİTLİS
Following the deployment of Turkish troops in Şêx Cuma area of Bitlis, guerrillas infiltrated into the position of the soldiers and contra groups in this area at 18:30 on May 14. Guerrillas effectively hit the Turkish units here, which left 5 soldiers dead and many others wounded.
ŞIRNAK
On May 13, guerrillas hit the soldiers that had been stationed on two hills in Şırnak’s Deriyê Sêvo region for the construction of an outpost. Guerrillas targeted the Turkish units at close range from two directions, forcing the soldiers to retreat from the hill. Guerrillas also hit and damaged the vehicles used in the construction of the outpost. While at least 2 soldiers were verified killed, the numbers of dead and injured soldiers could not be clarified.
On May 9, guerrillas hit the soldiers getting stationed on some hills in Şırnak’s Navyana Şêxa region. 3 soldiers were killed as result of effective strikes by guerrillas at close range.
ŞEMDİNLİ
After spotting a disguised Turkish army unit in the Xapuşkê region in Hakkari’s Şemzinan district on May 12, guerrillas targeted this unit from two directions at 15:30 on May 14. 5 soldiers were killed and 2 others were wounded as result of strikes by the first unit of guerrillas while the strikes by the other guerrilla group left 5 soldiers dead and 3 others wounded. This action was carried out to commemorate the guerrillas that have recently fallen as martyrs.
GEVER
Guerrillas carried out an action with heavy weaponry against the soldiers positioned at Martyr Zerdeşt and Martyr Rahime hills in the Oremar region of Hakkari’s Gever (Yüksekova) district between 18:30 and 19:00 on May 14. One soldier was killed in this action.
ÇUKURCA
YJA Star guerrillas carried out an action with heavy weaponry against the soldiers at Şkêr outpost in Hakkari’s Çelê (Çukurca) district between 12:00 and 12:30 on May 14. The number of dead pr injured soldiers couldn't be clarified.
