HPG: 37 soldiers killed in Tendürek

HPG announced that 37 Turkish soldiers were killed and a Cobra helicopter was destroyed in Tendürek region of Ağrı.

HPG Media Center announced that 37 Turkish soldiers were killed and a Cobra helicopter was destroyed during the Turkish army operation and clashes in Tendürek region of Ağrı.

One lieutenant colonel coordinating the Turkish army operation in the area and one colonel were killed in an action carried out by YJA-STAR guerrillas in the region. One guerrilla fell as martyr and contact with a group of guerrillas was lost during the operation and the clashes that took place.

37 SOLDIERS KILLED, 1 COBRA HELICOPTER DESTROYED

The Turkish army shelled the Martyr Remzi area in Ağrı’s Tendürek region at 17:00 on May 10 with artillery and tanks, and lunched an operation here on the morning of May 11 after airdropping soldiers in the area with Sikorsky helicopters accompanied by drones. Guerrilla forces carried out an action against an axis of the operation from two directions between 14:00 – 15:00 on May 11. All of the soldiers in this axis were killed in the action. At the same time, guerrillas effectively hit the soldiers that attempted to intervene the scene, as result of which many soldiers were killed.

Following the action, the Turkish army shelled the scene with artillery and tanks while Cobra helicopters also bombarded the area. Guerrillas hit these helicopter with heavy weaponry, which left two of these damaged, while one other was downed and destroyed in the area between Xarıkê village and Deşta Bazid region. The pilots of the two helicopter also died here. The Turkish army evacuated dead and wounded soldiers to Bazîd (Doğubeyazıt) district during the night, and stopped its search and sweep efforts in the area.

37 soldiers, 2 of whom were pilots, were killed and dozens of soldiers were injured during these actions. Contact was lost with a group of guerrillas while one guerrilla got heavily wounded and died of injuries despite all the medical efforts.Disguised units of the Turkish army remain in the area while a larger part of the operational forces retreated.

OPERATION COORDINATOR KILLED

YJA Star forces carried out a sabotage action against a Reo military vehicle between the Gulizerkê outpost and Zorava hill in Ağrı’s Tendürek region at 12:00 on May 10 as part of the Tendürek operation. It was confirmed that one lieutenant colonel coordinating the Turkish army operation in the area and one colonel were killed as result of this action.
