HPG: 6 soldiers killed in concurrent actions in Şırnak city center

Six soldiers were killed as a result of concurrent guerrilla actions that targeted the police headquarters, Çakırsu Brigade, hospital and school buildings turned into headquarters by Turkish forces in Şırnak.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office has released a statement detailing the guerrilla actions and Turkish military attacks.

ŞIRNAK

According to the statement, guerrillas carried out an expansive action in Şırnak city center between 22.00 – 23.00 last night, targeting the police headquarters and Çakırsu Brigade, as well as the hospital and school buildings turned into headquarters by Turkish forces. HPG said at least 6 soldiers were verified killed in the action, after which Turkish forces bombed the countryside at random.

DERSİM

YJA-Star (Free Women's Troops) guerrillas took control of the Uzuntarla-Paxali road on Dersim–Erzincan highway at 19:00 on May 12. Guerrillas performed ID checks on the people travelling on the route and informed them about the ongoing process. 3 trucks working for a private company in collaboration with AKP were also burned and destroyed.

HAKKARİ

In the afternoon of May 14, guerrillas hit and damaged a bulldozer working in the road construction around Leylak hill in Hakkari's Yüksekova district. While the construction was suspended, Turkish troops bombed Hill Sor and Hill Doçka after the guerrilla action.

Clashes between HPG guerrillas and Turkish troops are ongoing in Martyr Gafur Hill area in Oremar region of Hakkari's Yüksekova district. Guerrillas conducted an action on the soldiers deployed in this area this morning but the number of casualties inflicted here couldn't be clarified. Contact has been lost with two HPG guerrillas fighting in this area.

In another action yesterday afternoon, guerrillas targeted the Turkish soldiers that transported supplies to Geniş Hill in the countryside of Hakkari's Şemzinan district. The death toll inflicted here couldn't be verified either.

MEDYA DEFENSE ZONES

Turkish jets bombarded Ranya Pirê and Kurê Mızgefte in Xakurke area of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones between 10:00-11:00 yesterday morning.
