The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) released a statement sharing the details of an action carried out by the Şehit (Martyr) Delal Air Defense Units against the Turkish military in Heftanin region of Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq).

HPG-BIM also announced the martyrdom of two guerrillas from YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) carried out by the Turkish state against the area of Şelaze in the Metina region.

HPG-BIM said the following in its statement:

“On December 13, between 09:20 - 11:30, our Martyr Delal Air Defense Forces carried out actions with unmanned aerial vehicles against the invaders on the Koordine Hill in the Bektorya area of Heftanin within the framework of the Revolutionary Campaign of Cenga Heftanin (Battle of Heftanin). The determined targets have been hit successfully.

Two guerrillas martyred in Metina

On December 10, the fascist Turkish state bombed the Şelaze area of the Metina region with fighter jets. Our comrades Avesta and Viyan were martyred in this bombardment.”

The statement continued; “Our comrade Avesta was born in Şemzinan, Hakkari in a family devoted to patriotic and social values ​​and grew up in an environment with a culture of resistance. The Şemzinan (Şemdinli) region, where the fascist Turkish state intensely tried to implement the policies of assimilation and genocide, has always resisted. Our comrade Avesta became aware of these practices and joined the guerrilla ranks to fight against fascism. She constantly improved himself in guerrilla practice and life and embraced Leader Apo's (Abdullah Öcalan’s) philosophy, creating great changes in herself to become a pioneer, self-sacrificing militant. Our comrade Avesta, who had an indomitable will with her devotion to the martyrs, always followed in the footsteps of former female guerillas Zilan and Sara and became a pioneer of the free women's movement. Our comrade Avesta, who made great efforts in the struggle for women's freedom with the philosophy of Leader Apo until the last moment, succeeded in fulfilling all kinds of duties and responsibilities she undertook with her humble personality and tough stance in the struggle for freedom with great achievements.

Our comrade Viyan was born in Kobanê, the city of resistance, and her personality was shaped in a patriotic environment. During the attack of ISIS gangs, which is an ally of the fascist Turkish state, against Rojava, like every Kurdish woman, our comrade Viyan grabbed her weapon and joined the revolutionary forces to protect her homeland and people. For many years, she was on the front lines of resistance against the gangs, was injured many times and gained an iron will in the fight. She did not restrict her struggle to Rojava and joined the guerrilla ranks to fight against the fascist, genocidal and colonial Turkish state, which is the coalition partner of the gangs she wiped out of the world. Known for her concise and sincere companionship in the guerrilla struggle, comrade Viyan deepened further her commitment to Leader Apo's philosophy and took on important tasks by quickly becoming practical. She fulfilled all kinds of duties and responsibilities she undertook with great precision and care. She fought honorably until her last breath as a leading militant of Leader Apo's self-sacrificing freedom struggle with her determination and unwavering will to fight.  

First of all, we express our condolences to the families of our heroic martyred comrades and the patriotic people of Kurdistan, and we repeat the promise that our struggle will continue with great determination until freedom, which is the ideal of our heroic martyrs, shapes future.”

AIR STRIKES OF THE TURKISH ARMY

On the other hand, HPG-BIM reported that Turkish army carried out air strikes against Medya Defense Zones. Details of the attacks are as follows:

- On December 12, at 11:00, Ga Valley in the Meyrokê area in the Garê region was bombed.

- On December 12, at 11:30, the Kurojehro area in the Zap region was bombed.
