While the Turkish military continues to bombard guerrilla-held areas with mortars, howitzers and tanks, the retaliation actions of guerrilla forces also continue. At least 4 soldiers and 3 police officers were killed in these actions, while 1 Kobra and 1 Skorsky type helicopters of the Turkish army were damaged.

HPG firstly reported about the reconnaissance flights of Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles over Medya Defence Zones and gave the following information regarding these flights:

-Over Heftanin area of Medya Defence Zones between 08:00 - 15:30 on August 6,

-Over Zap region between 9:00 - 15:30 on August 6 and between 16:00 on August 6 and 04:00 on August 7,

-Over Martyr Hasan area of Dersim’s Pülümür district and Yayladere area of Bingöl’s Karlıova district between 17:00 - 18:30 on August 6,

-Over the Kızılağaç area of Karlıova between 17:00 - 00:00 on August 6,

-Over the Sason area of Batman between 04:00 - 08:00 on August 7.

TURKISH TROOPS CONTINUE TO BOMBARD GUERILLA AREAS

HPG reported that the artillery bombardments of Turkish troops targeting guerrilla-held areas also continue increasingly, and gave the following information regarding the bombardments Turkish troops carried out with howitzers, tanks and mortars:

Bombardments launched from Memişta military post at the border of Zagros region targeted Martyr Aziz Hill and Kale Hill between 18:00 - 19:00 on August 6,

Bombardments launched from Bezêlê military post targeted Dola Mehendê, Dola Kewê, Çarçel Hill and Bılbılê areas between 16:00 - 17:00 on August 6,

Bombardments launched from Bêgirti (Nehri) military post at the border of Xakurke targeted its surroundings between 22:30 - 00:00 on August 6,

Bombardments launched from Mamreş and Bêzok military posts at the border of Avaşin targeted Mergê and Ronahi Hill areas between 18:00 - 19:00 on August 6,

Bombardments launched from Oremar military post in Hakkari’s Yüksekova district targeted Martyr Gafur area between 19:00 - 20:00 on August 6,

Bombardments launched from Maymun Hill and Çete Hill military posts at the border of Heftanin targeted Deriyê Dawetiya between 11:00 - 13:00 on 6 August, and targeted Martyr Kendal and Deriyê Dawetiya areas between 17:00 - 20:00 on the same day,

Bombardments launched from Aruş military post at the border of Metina targeted Komanda Hill between 13:00 - 17:00 and 23:00 - 00:00 on August 6,

Bombardments launched from Eriş military post at the border of Zap region targeted Dola Şifreza area between 13:30 - 16:30 on August 6,

Bombardments launched from Bilican military post targeted Gunde Erbiş area between 13:00 - 14:00 on August 6,

Bombardments launched from Eriş military post targeted Canmeda, Dola 82 and Xeregol areas between 15:30 - 18:00 on August 6.

GUERILLAS RESPOND WITH ACTIONS

HPG reported that guerillas responded Turkish army attacks and activities with effective actions. Accordingly, guerillas killed 2 soldiers and wounded 1 soldier in the Deriyê Meydana area of Besta region at 16:30 on August 5. Guerillas also damaged a Kobra type helicopter with heavy weaponry when the helicopter was bombing nearby areas. Turkish soldiers carried out an operation in Deriyê Meydana and Deriyê Beroş regions on August 6 and withdrew from the area after failing to achieve any results.

HPG stated that guerillas carried out an action on the District Gendarme Post in Şırnak’s Uludere district at 22:30 on August 6. Guerillas killed 1 soldier and wounded 1 soldier here, and killed 3 police officers that were guarding the nearby district governorship building.

Guerillas targeted a military post in Hatay’s Karayılan region on August 4, but the number of soldier casualties has not yet been clarified. Guerillas also blocked the road between Erzurum and Ardahan’s Göle district, and have been controlling the road between Eruzurm and Kağızman for a week now.

In its statement, HPG warned civilians about a contra group of 30 people who wear guerilla clothes and carry out contra activities.

HPG announced that YJA Star guerillas carried out an action on the Korxê military post in Amed’s Lice district at 17:00 on August 6. YJA Star guerillas killed 1 soldier, wounded 1 soldier, and destroyed the thermal camera attached to tank stationed in the post.

Guerillas blocked the road between Bitlis and Batman, checked IDs, and destroyed 2 vehicle that were carrying materials to Turkish army bases between 00:00 and 03:00 on August 7.

HPG guerillas also blocked the road between Bitlis and Şêx Cuma between 14:30 – 20:30, and the road between Bitlis’ Hizan district and Siirt’s Pervari district between 16:00 – 20:00 on August 6.

HPG ended its statement by saying that guerillas hit a Turkish army Skorsky helicopter that was landing on the Kutudere military post in Dersim at 07:30 on August 6, and soldiers responded to this action by bombarding Qozmerik village with artillery and mortars.
