HPG: At least 50 soldiers killed in Dicle

HPG said guerrillas carried out three separate actions in Amed's Dicle district at the night of May 1 in retaliation against the fascist AKP state's ongoing attacks in Kurdistan, and in memory of resistance martyrs and 4 fallen guerrillas.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office has released a statement providing details of the guerrilla actions that targeted gendarmerie and police targets in Amed's Dicle district at the night of May 1.

HPG said three separate actions by guerrillas were conducted in retaliation against the fascist AKP state's ongoing attacks in Kurdistan. HPG reported that at least 50 soldiers and special operations members were killed as a result of the guerrilla actions but the warmongering Turkish media hid the losses suffered by the Turkish military.

The statement by HPG said; “In retaliation against the fascist AKP state's ongoing attacks in Kurdistan, and in memory of resistance martyrs and 4 guerrillas who fell mounting resistance against the attack on Şex Said Martyrs' Cemetery, guerrilla team Martyr Şahin Zaza carried out an expansive action against Turkish targets in Amed's Dicle district within the scope of the Martyr Xemgin Koçer and Nucan Malatya Revolutionary Offensive launched by guerrilla forces.”

AT LEAST 47 SOLDIERS KILLED IN GENDARMERIE COMMAND

HPG reported that one of the three guerrilla groups conducted a sabotage action with a bomb-laden vehicle targeting the Dicle District Gendarmerie Command 21.50 on May 1.

6 military emplacements, 2 towers, 2 tanks, 2 panzers and 12 civilian cars of the Turkish military were destroyed, while 1 military lodging building was rendered unusable and one other got greatly damaged.

HPG said there were a total of 180 soldiers in the Gendarmerie Command at the time of the guerrilla action which left 47 soldiers dead and 78 others wounded, including 12 seriously.

ACTION AGAINST POLICE HQ

The second group of guerrillas hit the Dicle District Police Headquarters with automatic weapons, as a result of which 2 special operations police were wounded.

ACTION AGAINST REINFORCING UNITS

The third guerrilla group targeted and hit the armored vehicles that were reinforced to the scene from Amed as well as its Ergani, Eğil and Hani districts. 1 armored vehicle was destroyed and 3 special operations police were killed here. Guerrillas also hit the car carrying Hani district police chief and deputy chief, which left both injured.

HPG stated that Turkish forces retrieved and carried the casualties with 40 ambulances and 5 Sikorsky helicopters, while Turkish jets and Cobra helicopters shelled the rural area between Hani and Dicle districts following the action by guerrillas.

The statement by HPG added that Turkish media made specific effort to hide the results of this expansive action by guerrillas.
