The HPG Press Center disclosed the identity of one of the YJA Star guerrillas who fell as a martyr in Bagok.

The statement reads as follows:

"The invading Turkish army has launched extensive operations in the province of Mêrdîn since the beginning of December. During these operations that lasted for days, a camp with 6 of our female comrades came into contact with the invaders and there were intense clashes for 2 days. Our female comrades displayed epic resistance under the leadership of the regional commander, Comrade Hira, and showed the valiant stance of Kurdish women. As a result of these clashes, we established that 6 of our female comrades had fallen as martyrs. One of the fallen is our comrade Hira Ulaş and another is our comrade Simanur Kaya. When the detailed identity information of our other comrades is established, it will be shared with our people and the public.

The identity information of our comrade Hîra is as follows:

Code Name: Hîra Ulaş

Name Surname: Deniz Orak

Birthplace: Mêrdîn

Mother and father’s name: Çiçek - Hüseyin

Martyrdom Date and Place: 15 December 2021 / Mêrdîn

Our comrade Hîra was born in Nisêbîn, the center of resistance, the leading city of the serhildan tradition, and grew up in a patriotic family that paid a heavy price for its participation in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle. Our comrade Hîra had the determination to take an active part in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle and joined it as a young Kurdish woman. Our comrade knew that the philosophy of Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] is the real solution against all kinds of reactionary oppression and persecution that women are subjected to. Our comrade saw the beauty of life and comrade relations based on the real sociability created by the communal life of the PKK and was bound to our party with an unlimited bond and based on a high pace of participation."

The statement added: "From the first year she joined, she trained herself and transferred what she learned to her comrades. As a strong-willed Kurdish woman, she concentrated on the military and became an experienced YJA Star commander in a short time. She carried out guerrilla activities in different geographies of Kurdistan, especially in Zap, Xakurkê and Botan. Our comrade Hîra, who is the representative of a sharp militant stance in war and in life, has been an indomitable defender of the Leader's line. Our comrade Hîra, who once again demonstrated her loyalty to the martyrs and our people, by being at the forefront at a time when the invaders launched a wave of attacks, walked to the forefront with her militant personality until the moment of martyrdom. The revolutionary march of our comrade Hîra will be taken over by our comrades who are left behind and will lead to victory.

We express our condolences to all our patriotic people of Kurdistan, especially to the valuable family of our comrade Hîra, who led the struggle for women's freedom and the struggle of our people to live in a free country with her 21-year uninterrupted resistance."
