Guerrillas launched a revolutionary campaign in Şırnak on the 33rd anniversary of the August 15 Initiative. 6 soldiers were killed and a large quantity of ammunition was seized in the actions .

People’s Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office released a statement providing information about the ongoing war between guerrilla forces and the Turkish army in Northern Kurdistan territory.

BESTA/ŞIRNAK

HPG guerrillas have launched a revolutionary campaign named after Martyr Serdem-Martyr Nudem in Şırnak province on the 33rd anniversary of the August 15 Initiative, marking the first action of the PKK against the Turkish army in the year of 1984.

Within the scope of the campaign, guerrilla forces targeted the occupying Turkish army positioned on two different hills in the Deriyê Beroj zone of the Besta area on August 16, 06.00 hours. The Turkish positions on one hill which was put under fire from two directions has been struck in close range and HPG forces have asserted full control over the hill. 6 Turkish soldiers have been identified killed on this hill.

On this hill, guerrillas seized one Bora assassination weapon, binoculars and magazines belonging to the weapon, one BKC weapon and many bullets of the weapon, one RPG-7 rocket launcher weapon, one HK-33 (Hybrid) weapon, one thermal binoculars, one hand grenade, one steel vest and many life materials belonging to the soldiers. In addition, two HK-33 weapons belonging to the soldiers were burned and destroyed.

The targeted positions on the second hill were also put under fire, but the number of dead and wounded left soldiers here could not be clarified.

Guerrillas simultaneously put under fire the Navyana Şêxa and Çiyayê Nimêja outposts. The number of dead and wounded Turkish soldiers in the outpost buildings and positions that were shot effectively could not be clarified.

CUDİ/ŞIRNAK

On August 16, guerrillas encountered with a unit of the occupying Turkish army in Hill Ezmana, in the region of Şêb Abbas, on the Cudi Mountain in Şırnak, and entered into conflict with the Turkish forces. One soldier was killed in the clash, after which the occupying Turkish army bombed the area with howitzers and mortars, while the guerrilla unit reached their base safely.

ŞEMDİNLİ/HAKKARİ

Within the scope of the Martyr Bedran Gundikremo and Martyr Nalin Muş revolutionary campaign, HPG forces carried out an action in the area of ​​Gostê in Hakkari's Şemzînan (Şemdinli) district on August 15. One of the Turkish units participating in the operation launched by the occupying Turkish army in the area on August 8 was targeted at 15:00 between the Kurê Mizgeftê and Şikêrê Sipi zones, where one Turkish soldier was identified killed and three others were wounded

BAŞKALE/VAN

On August 15, at 19.00 guerrillas carried out an action against Başkale District Gendarmerie Outpost in Van. Guerrillas targeted the positions and buildings in the outpost, as result of which four Turkish soldiers were killed and three others were wounded. In addition, a Kirpi-type armored vehicle was destroyed, and a container was also damaged. The number of enemy Turkish killed or wounded in the vehicle and containers could not be clarified.

After the action, the occupying Turkish army bombed the area with howitzer and mortars, and a child was wounded as a result of the bombings.

On 12 August, the occupying Turkish army launched an operation in the Martyr Kawa area of Amed's Lice district. On the same day at 22.00, cobra-type attack helicopters bombed the area and Sikorsky-type helicopters airdropped soldiers in the area. As a result of the bombardment, a fire broke out in the area and the locals trying to put out the fire were prevented by the Turkish forces.

Operation units, which were withdrawn on August 13 without any results, also burned the forest of Derik village.
