HPG (People's Defense Forces) member Mehmet Hayme was captured alive in the clash in Mûş’s Gımgım (Varto) district where 4 HPG guerillas were killed. Hayme confirmed his two comrades were executed after being captured alive.

Hayme confirmed the execution while talking with his family. He has been through severe torture.

2 HPG members were killed and 2 others were executed after being captured alive on April 6 during the Turkish military operation in Badan village and its rural areas in Muş’s Varto district. 77 years old Sise Bingöl and 2 others were also detained and later arrested on charges of “aiding and abetting a terrorist organisation” in the same operation and Mûş Governorate had denied the claims of execution. But HPG member Mehmet Hayme’s (Devrim Amed) accounts in Sincan F Type Prison No.1 reveal the execution once more.

Father Şafi Hayme met his son in the prison and said he was on the wanted list and he wasn’t executed because there was a 1 million lira prize on his head.

“MY COMRADES WERE EXECUTED”

Hayme stated that his son was captured alive by the state and said, “4 comrades of my son were executed. The reason why my son wasn’t is that there is a prize on his head. When we met, he said ‘I said you executed my comrades, execute me too. They told me the couldn’t kill me and there was a reason for that.’ He was kept in Varto for a few days and then sent to Sincan prison in Ankara. They had tortured him severely. After he was sent to Ankara, the prison warden sent 3 correctional officers over to him and had his hands tied. Then the 3 prison wardens tortured Mehmet. His face was all black and blue. He had trouble speaking. He was sad that he was alive and his friends were executed."

“HE IS KEPT IN A CELL”

Father Hayme stated his son was kept at Sincan No.1, although he demanded transfer to Sincan Type F Prison No.2, and said, “My son wanted to be transferred to where political prisoners are. The warden told my son that ‘It is our business, not yours. You will stay where we want you to stay.’ He petitioned for the transfer but it is yet to be answered. His lawyer will also appeal for his transfer. My son is still being kept in a single person cell. He isn’t allowed to see anybody.”
