The statement continued: "Mizgîn Cigerxwîn was born in the Silvan district near Amed as the daughter of a traditional working family. She grew up in an environment plagued by hostile oppression and encountered the inhumane face of the genocidal Turkish state as a child."

The HPG continued: "Sozdar Feraşîn was born in Van to a patriotic family. When she was two years old, her mother was arrested. As a result, she spent her childhood behind the prison walls of the Turkish regime. She got to know the inhumane face of the Turkish state in this way, experienced oppression and grew up with the feelings of hatred and anger it caused."
