Guerrillas Agir Botan and Fedakar Cûdî fell while resisting against the Turkish invasion in the Zap region in South Kurdistan.
The Press Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) has published the identity of two fallen guerrillas. Agir Botan and Fedakar Cûdî died in the first two days of the Turkish war of aggression in the Zap region in South Kurdistan.
The HPG said in a statement: “Mobile units are one of the essential tactics in guerrilla warfare in democratic modernity. With this tactic, the occupying troops of the Turkish state are dealt the biggest blows in history. Our comrades Agir and Fedakar were masters of the tactic of catching the enemy off-guard and at an unexpected moment.
With their resistance, they inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy. They fought heroically in this delicate phase of the war and fell as martyrs. They have now taken an honourable place in history as the leading commanders of our resistance.”

Agir Botan
Agir Botan was born in Cizre in the province of Şirnak. His family was already active in the movement in the early days of the Kurdish liberation struggle. Many of his relatives joined the fight. His aunt was commander Çiçek Botan, who contributed significantly to the emergence of the women's guerrilla YJA Star. Agir grew up in this atmosphere and early on decided to become a guerrilla himself. As a youth, he took part in the revolutionary work in various areas, taking on tasks of strategic importance.
In response to the annihilation plan implemented by the Turkish state in 2015, he went to the mountains. In the guerrillas, he quickly developed ideological and military skills and went on to become a guerrilla commander. He stayed mostly in the Zap region and took part in many actions against the enemy. When the Turkish army's invasion was launched on April 17, he commanded mobile guerrilla units in the Zap region. He fulfilled this responsibility with great courage and creativity. He was a symbol of resistance in the Zap.
Fedakar Cudî
Fedakar Cudî was born in Kobanê. His family was patriotic and he grew up knowing that his people must fight to survive. He soon became acquainted with the PKK. Due to the persecution by the Baath regime in Syria, he had to go to South Kurdistan. The events in Rojava kept him very busy. Affected by the casualties in the fight against the Islamists in Northern Syria, he decided to take up arms himself. In 2014 he went to the Kurdish mountains.
There he completed an education that led to a great development of his personality. He focused on the tactics of modern guerrilla warfare. To put his knowledge into practice, he always proposed himself for the most intense battlefields. He spent most of his time in the Zap region. In the fight against the invasion last year, he made a major contribution to the defeat of the Turkish army as a model militant. He fought both in mobile units and in the guerrilla tunnel system. When the new military operation started on 17 April this year, he was part of the first units that intervened in the Karker area against the Turkish troops. According to the HPG, he fought bravely and with great willingness to make sacrifices.
"With their fight, Agir Botan and Fedakar Cûdî determined the character of our resistance and our war tactics," the HPG explained. "With this line we will defeat the enemy." The HPG express their condolences to the relatives of the fallen and the Kurdish people.
