HPG reports actions in memory of Werxelê martyrs

The guerrillas have carried out coordinated actions against the Turkish occupation forces in the Zap region. Meanwhile, the Turkish army's attacks on southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) continue.

The People's Defense Forces (HPG) have carried out two actions against the Turkish occupation forces in the Zap region of the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan. This was announced by the HPG press center in a statement on the war in Kurdistan, released on Sunday.

According to the statement, two guerrilla groups struck the Turkish soldiers in Kela Bêdewê with heavy weapons in a coordinated action at 3:30 p.m. on April 8. The intended targets were hit. At 7:40 p.m., a second attack took place in which the designated targets were destroyed. HPG dedicated the two actions to the memory of the martyrs of Werxelê, who died after months of resistance against the second largest NATO army by the use of chemical weapons.

Air and ground attacks on Medya Defense Zones

HPG also provided information on the Turkish army's recent attacks on guerrilla areas in southern Kurdistan. On Thursday, the Girê Cûdî in the Zap region and the Werxelê mountain massif in Avaşîn were shelled with howitzers by Turkish border forces, and parallel airstrikes took place. Last night, helicopter movements were observed over the Qaşûra line in Metîna. At the same time, attack helicopters bombed the area around the villages of Dêşîşê, Seraro and Êdînê as well as the Koordine area.
