HPG reports chemical weapons attacks in guerrilla areas

The army of NATO member Turkey used chemical weapons against a guerrilla position eleven times and carried out nine airstrikes on the neighbouring country during its cross-border operation in northern Iraq on Tuesday.

The Turkish army carried out eleven chemical weapons operations against a guerrilla position in Çemço in the Zap region on Tuesday. This was reported by the press centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) in its daily overview of the war events in Kurdistan on 10 January. The contested area of Çemço is located in the district of Sheladize near the town of Amadiya and belongs to the administrative district of Duhok.

In addition to the chemical weapons attacks, an unconventional bomb was used, and the area was also shelled dozens of times with howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons. The guerrillas struck the Turkish invading forces in Çemço with heavy weapons on Tuesday.

According to the HPG, the areas of Dola Şerane and Xêrê, as well as the area around the village of Julya in Gare, were bombed a total of nine times by Turkish fighter jets on 10 January.
