Guerrilla units affiliated to People’s Defense Forces (HPG) carried out effective actions against Turkish troops and police forces in Hakkari, Şırnak, Amed, Bingöl, Muş and Bitlis provinces in North Kurdistan. HPG Press Office has reported in a written statement that Turkish forces suffered big losses in guerrilla actions.

Guerrilla forces targeted Goman military post in Şemdinli district of Hakkari on September 17, effectively hitting the soldiers that gathered in the garden of the post, but the number of the casualties could not be clarified. Following the action, Turkish troops shelled the surroundings of the military post with tanks and mortars.

At least 2 soldiers were killed in an action carried out by YJA STAR guerrillas against Salara military post in Şemdinli on September 16.

HPG guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against a military convoy in Meskan area of Hakkari, leaving one armored vehicle completely destroyed, yet the number of the casualties could not be clarified.

2 Cobra type and 6 Sikorsky type helicopters attempted to a,rdrop soldiers in Hill Çete military post in Yüksekova district of Hakkari at between 06:00-07:00 on September 18. Targeting the helicopters, guerrillas left one Cobra type helicopter damaged while the Skorsky type helicopter retreated without landing. Simultaneously with this action, guerrillas also hit Remo military post with heavy weaponry.

Turkish army’s emplacements at Haftanin border targeted

Guerrillas hit Turkish army’s emplacements in the surrounding area of Martyr Kendal at Heftanin border with heavy weaponry at 09:15 and at between 13:30-18:30 on September 17. Following the action, Gülyazı regiment and Maymun Hill military post shelled Deriyê Davetiya and Kêlik areas where a wild fire erupted as a result of the bombardment.

Two soldiers killed in Çukurca

Turkish troops at Rındıkê military post in Çukurca district of Hakkari, who launched an operation around the surroundings of the post, were targeted by guerrillas. Two soldiers were killed in the clash that broke out following the action of the guerrillas. The operation in the area is reportedly continuing.

Police lodges targeted in Silopi

HPG guerrillas targeted police lodges in Silopi district of Şırnak at 19:00 on September 16, hitting one emplacement where 4 policemen were stationed. The number of the casualties however could not be clarified.

Soldiers set forests on fire in Çatak during operation

The Turkish army launched an operation in the area between Çamınış and Xumare villages of Çatak district of Van. While the troops ended the operation without obtaining any results, they set the forested area on fire.

One soldier killed in Başkale

HPG guerrillas targeted the tower of Xalkava military post in Başkale district of Van at 14:50 on September 17, leaving one soldier dead, after which Turkish troops shelled the area after the action until 15:30.

Turkish army ceaselessly shelled Kato Marinos area in Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak.

Three policemen seriously wounded in Tatvan

At least 3 policemen were seriously wounded in a sabotage action carried out against an armoured vehicle in Tatvan district of Bitlis at 18:00 on September 17.

The head of the village guards in Bısta and Kelhê villages of Hizan and in Zinzık village of Şirvan are engaged in counter activities and also joining an operation with Turkish troops in Çiyayê Gerzeb area of Şirvan.

Martyrs' cemetery in Varto shelled by Turkish forces

The Turkish army attacked the Martyr Ronahî and Martyr İsmail cemeteries in Varto district of Muş at 04:00 on September 17, hitting the cemeteries and surrounding areas first with war planes and then with Cobra type helicopters. Following the shelling of the aircraft, armoured vehicles entered the damaged the religious buildings in the graveyards. The people reacting to the attacks were detained by the soldiers who also attacked the local people. While the military activity continues around the cemeteries, all roads leading to the scene have been closed by soldiers.

Turkish army shelled guerrilla held areas in Sarıkamış

Turkish troops launched a bombardment in Sarıkamış district of Kars at between 10:00-12:00 on September 17. Demirkapı area in Çemçe village of Kars was also shelled at between 16.30-17.00 the same day .

HPG lastly reported about the operation launched by Turkish troops in Ovacık district of Dersim. HPG provided the following details about the operation:

-Two drones carried out reconnaissance flights over Gamır, Otlu Bahçe and Kozluca areas of Ovacık at 15:00 on September 16.

-Turkish jets coordinated by two reconnaissance aircraft shelled Gamır, Otlu Bahçe and Kozluca areas at between 17:15-18:00 on September 16, while two Cobra type helicopters shelled Gamır area at between 18:20-19:00. Turkish forces continued shelling Gamır and Otlu Bahçe areas at between 23:30-00:30.

- Sikorsky type helicopters supported by two Cobra type ones airdropped soldiers at between 18:00-19:00 in Gamır, Otku Bahçe and Kozluca districts on September 16.

Three guerrillas taken captive

A unit of three guerrillas were taken captive wounded following a clash they were engaged in with soldiers of the Turkish army in Yiğitler (Meman) neighborhood of Erzurum's Tekman district on September 16.
