According to the daily overview of the Press Centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG), a soldier of the Turkish invading forces was killed in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) on Friday. The soldier was shot dead using sniper tactics near the village of Sîda in Sheladize town in Amadiya district. In the Çemço area, also in Sheladize, the Turkish army used chemical weapons against guerrilla positions in ten waves of attacks. In addition, soldiers directed smoke from lit plastic and rubber tires into the guerrilla positions.
HPG also reported a total of four air raids by fighter jets on the guerrilla positions near Sîda and Çarçel in Metîna. The resistance areas of Girê FM and Kurojahro were attacked a total of twelve times by combat helicopters on 23 December. Dozens of attacks with howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons targeted the areas of Girê FM, Sîda and Çemço on the same day.
