HPG reports Turkish military operations and clashes

Guerrilla forces continue their actions against the occupant Turkish forces in Kurdistan amid ongoing military operations and bombardments by the Turkish army.

HPG Press Centre released a statement informing about the guerrilla action in Gever, clashes in Van and airstrikes on guerrilla zones in south Kurdistan.

The statement reads as follows;

ACTION IN GEVER

Within the scope of the Martyr Pîroz and Agirî Revolutionary Campaign, our guerrilla forces carried out an action against the invading Turkish army soldiers positioned on the Martyr Gafur hill in Hakkari's Gever (Yüksekova) district at 10.30 hours on August 18.

The number of dead and wounded soldiers could not be clarified in the action where enemy positions and shelters were struck effectively. Following the action, the invading Turkish army indiscriminately bombed Martyr Diren hill with warplanes.

OPERATION IN ÇARÇELLA

On August 18, the invading Turkish army launched an operation around the Meclis hill in Çarçella area of Hakkari's Gever (Yüksekova) district. The operation is still underway.

CLASH IN VAN

On the evening of August 14, the invading forces launched an operation in the surroundings of Xencelos village in Van’s Başkale district with the support of unmanned aerial vehicles. Our forces, encountering with the invading Turkish army in the operation, entered into conflict here. Many enemy soldiers were killed in the conflicts which continued until the morning of August 15. Our comrade Rizgar, who fought heroically against the enemy units in the conflict, has reached martyrdom. Our comrade Aras (Ramazan Korkmaz) has been captured by enemy forces.

TURKISH AIRSTRIKES

On August 18, between 11.20 and 12.00, the warplanes belonging to the invading Turkish army bombed the Lolan water in the Xakurke region of the Medya Defence Zones, also Şekîf hill, Şêxzade and Arê valleys.”
