HPG statement on Turkish operation at Southern Kurdistan border

Turkish troops crossed into Southern Kurdistan and launched an operation against Tepê Xwedê and the surrounding area of Barzan region on 27 September.

The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement detailing the Turkish army’s military operation at the border with southern Kurdistan.

BARZAN

According to the statement, the occupying Turkish army crossed into Southern Kurdistan and launched an operation against Tepê Xwedê and the surrounding area of Barzan region on 27 September.

Details of the operation, in which guerrilla forces are retaliating Turkish troops and violent clashes are taking place, are as follows;

“Tepê (Hill) Xwedê, which the Turkish army bombarded with howitzers and mortars, is where soldiers were airdropped with Sikorsky-type helicopters. On the morning of September 27, occupying forces tried to advance to Bayrak Hill located in the same area. At 5.00, guerrillas in the same region intervened in the enemy forces and violent clashes which erupted in the area afterwards.

Another unit joining the Turkish operation attempted to infiltrate onto the Koordine hill. This operation unit was also hit effectively by our forces.

On the same day, at 18:00, our forces carried out an action targeting an enemy unit near the Bayrak hill. The number of dead and wounded soldiers that were hit at close range could not be determined.

The enemy forces intensely bombarded the surrounding area of Adil Beg village with warplanes, Cobra-type helicopters, howitzers and mortars with the support of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) during the operation.”

ŞEMDİNLİ

On the other hand, HPG reported, guerrillas carried out actions against the Turkish army in Hakkari's Çelê (Çukurca) and Şemzînan (Şemdinli) districts within the second phase of the Martyr Bedran Gundikremo and Martyr Nalin Muş revolutionary campaign.

At September 25 night, guerrillas hit a Turkish army convoy heading from Çelê district to Hakkari, in which two armoured vehicles convoy were targeted and struck effectively. More than 12 Turkish soldiers were killed and 6 others were seriously wounded as result.

After the action, Turkish forces launched an operation in the area with the support of UAVs, and bombed the area with Cobra-type attack helicopters, tanks, mortars and howitzers until September 26. As a result of these bombardments, three guerrillas fell martyrs.

GEVER

On September 26 and 27, guerrillas hit the Turkish forces located at the top of Bayê hill in Gever's (Yüksekova) district, which left two Turkish soldiers dead. After the actions, the Turkish forces bombed the area with howitzer and mortar shells.

ŞEMZİNAN

One soldier was killed in a targeted action of guerrillas on Kurê Mızgeftê hill in Şemzinan.

BİTLİS

Guerrillas hit one of the contra units of the occupying Turkish army that are leading the operations in Bitlis territory on September 27. One member of the contra units was killed in this action near Xaçina village in Mutki district of Bitlis.

OPERATIONS OF THE TURKISH ARMY

The operation of the Turkish army launched in Bederê, Bazidê, Xirbê Mişka Bagok Martyrs’ Cemetery area in Mardin's Bagok area on 25 September was withdrawn at 5:00 am on September 26 without any results.

On September 26, the Turkish army launched a comprehensive operation in Qelanis area of ​​Baykan province of Siirt, including the Toxe, Xacinan, Silind, Madalan, Xelika, Bılvanıs, Arinc villages. The operation joined by several village guards and two thousand soldiers was retreated in the evening of September 27th without any results.

On September 26, the Turkish army launched an operation in the area of ​​Martyr Fırat valley in the countryside of Erzincan province. Between 15:00 and 17:30 hours, Turkish forces with howitzers and mortars bombarded the area alongside the support of UAVs, and extended the scope of the operation at 23:00.

At 04:00 am on September 27, our forces organized an action against a unit of the operation on the Kajeri slopes in the Martyr Fırat valley. While the soldiers were shot at close range, the number of those killed or wounded here could not be determined. Turkish forces removed dead and wounded soldiers with Sikorsy-type helicopters, and bombarded the area with cobra-type attack helicopters in the morning. The partially withdrawn operation continues in the form of ambush and exploration-type activities by disguised units.

On September 27, Turkish warplanes bombarded the Korka hill in Metina area of the Medya Defense Zones, and the Heft Tebax hill in Gare area.
