HPG: The spirit of 14 July resistance lives on

According to the press centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG), the guerrillas continue to fight against the Turkish invading forces in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). According to the daily statement by the HPG, eleven soldiers have been killed in the latest guerrilla actions and two others soldiers were wounded. The HPG dedicated their actions to the prison resistance of 14 July 1982 and stated that the fighting spirit of that time lives on today in the Kurdish mountains.
According to the HPG, the Turkish army attacked guerrilla positions nine times with phosphorus bombs, other chemical weapons and explosives. In addition, there were nine airstrikes by fighter jets and 27 by attack helicopters, as well as dozens of attacks with tanks, howitzers and mortars.
The HPG gave the following information on the latest situation in the various areas of the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones:
Şikefta Birîndara
In Şikefta Birîndara area in the Zap region, a mobile unit of the YJA Star stopped a Turkish advance on Wednesday, killing one soldier. On the same day, the guerrillas intervened with heavy weapons against the construction of a military position. A shovel excavator was damaged in the shelling, and the construction of the position was stopped as a result. The Turkish army used phosphorus bombs, other chemical weapons and explosives three times against a guerrilla tunnel.
Girê Cûdî
On 9 July, a soldier was shot dead at Girê Cûdî by a mobile sniper unit. On 13 July, the guerrillas stopped the advance of Turkish troops twice with an action of sabotage and hand grenades, killing two soldiers. The Turkish army used chemical weapons and explosives.
Girê FM
At Girê FM, the guerrillas struck an advancing unit of the Turkish army twice on 9 July, killing two soldiers. On 13 July, one soldier was killed by targeted fire and another was injured. Afterwards, the guerrillas carried out an action of sabotage in which one soldier was killed. At 6.20 am today, the invading forces were targeted by guerrillas with firearms while the Turkish army used chemical weapons and explosives.
Girê Amêdî
At Girê Amêdî, an advance of Turkish troops was stopped by an action of sabotage at 9am on Wednesday, leaving one soldier dead and another injured. At 2 pm, soldiers tried to enter a tunnel and were fired upon with heavy weapons. At 6.35 p.m. and at 6 a.m. today, two soldiers were shot dead by YJA Star snipers. The Turkish army used chemical weapons and explosives.
Koker
The Turkish army attacked the guerrilla tunnels in the Koker area with banned chemical weapons on 10, 11 and 12 July, causing very violent detonations. Thermobaric weapons were used to break the resistance of the guerrillas.

The Turkish army attacked guerrilla positions with chemical weapons twice on 13 July.
