The Central Headquarters Command of the People's Defence Forces (HSM) sent a congratulatory message to all commanders and fighters in Girê Bahar and Sergelê Resistance Area in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
The HSM Headquarters Command said the following in its message:
"As of 3 July, a new invasion attack was launched against Girê Bahar and Sergelê Resistance Areas. In the past one month, the attacks of the invading army from the air and land were responded to at a certain level and significant actions were carried out. In addition to destroying cranes and armoured vehicles, targeting the reinforcements and military vehicles sent to the invaders on the road line, 2 Sikorsky helicopters of the Turkish army were shot down on 10 July and 16 July by creative tactics. These actions, which deepened in style and tactics and demonstrated the success of the new era's expert team warfare style, dealt heavy blows to the occupying Turkish army.
On the evening of 6 August, an effective action was carried out by coordinated guerrilla teams by first taking an occupying unit in Girê Bahar Resistance Area under control and then striking a crushing blow by ambushing it in the field. In this action, 14 invaders, including the ranking commander of the unit, were killed, 5 invaders were seriously wounded, and the invading unit was liquidated. This successful action has once again demonstrated the effectiveness of the guerrilla tactics of the new era and the specialised team warfare style when applied on the right basis. The fact that this successful action was carried out to salute the 40th anniversary of the Glorious 15 August Breakthrough led by our great commander Comrade Egîd made your action more meaningful.
We congratulate all the specialised teams and units who have contributed to the actions during the last month of war, the downing of two helicopters and the accomplishment of the latest action. On the eve of the 15 August Resurrection Day, we believe that you will achieve greater success with Egîd’s sacrificial spirit and triumphant style, and we greet all comrades with the sincerest revolutionary feelings."
