A hunger strike was launched in Shengal to demand the end of the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan as well as his freedom.
The action is led by the Shengal Democratic Autonomy Assembly (MXDŞ), the Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement (TAJE), the Yazidi Youth Union (YCE) and the Yazidi Young Women's Union (YJCE).
The hunger strike was launched in the Lalish Hall in Khanasor (Xanesor), and the first group to begin fasting was composed by 20 people.
Young people will continue the action for three days, then the representatives of the institutions in Shengal and civil society organisations will take over the action.
