The hunger strike resistance against Öcalan’s isolation in Hewlêr has reached day 114 and has been taken over by the 57th group of activists.
The hunger strike resistance against isolation of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan is continuing in South Kurdistan.
The 57th group of activists has taken over the solidarity hunger strike in Hewler (Erbil) city after reading a statement to the press.
Reading the statement, HDP South Kurdistan branch co-chair Abid Ike said: “For the Kurdish people, the month of March is the month of resistance. Resistance against isolation is going on in many places. The people of Bashur (South Kurdistan) should participate in the actions more strongly and support them. We must be the only voice against the policies of oppression carried out against Kurds and we must raise our struggle.”
Ike added: “Leyla Güven and Nasır Yağız are getting weaker every passing day. We should make more pressure on the Turkish state. Isolation on leader Apo needs to be lifted as soon as possible.”
HDP member Nasır Yağız has reached day 114 of his fast and he is in serious condition. Despite this, he continues the hunger strike with determination.
