The hunger strike in Şehit Rüstem Cudi (Maxmur) Refugee Camp was launched on 16 December 2018 to demand the end of isolation against Abdullah Öcalan.
The solidarity hunger strike has reached day 82 and has been taken over by the 28th group after a press statement read today in Maxmur.
Fadile Tok, a member of the Ishtar Council, is continuing an indefinite hunger strike. Tok began fasting on 20 January and has reached day 47.
In a statement made on behalf of the 27th group of hunger strikers that just terminated their fast, Sadık Demir said that the hunger strike resistance is at a critical threshold and he called on everyone to support the actions.
He said that hunger strike resistance would continue until isolation is lifted.
After the press release, the 28th group took over the hunger strike resistance with the slogan “Bê Serok jiyan nabe” [No Life Without the Leader] and “Bijî Serok Apo” [Long Live Leader Öcalan].
