Hunger striker placed in solitary confinement

Hunger striker Kadir Kaplan was placed in solitary confinement in the Amasya Type E Closed Prison.

The AKP-MHP regime, as they can’t stop the hunger strike resistance against the Imrali isolation, continues to pressure prisoners.

Kadir Kaplan, a prisoner of 27 years who has been on a hunger strike for 12 days in the Amasya Type E Closed Prison, was placed in solitary confinement. Kaplan appealed to the Human Rights Association (IHD) Van Chapter with a letter.

“I WAS PLACED IN SOLITARY CELL WHEN I WENT ON A HUNGER STRIKE”

Kaplan wrote: “I went on a hunger strike on March 1 to protest the isolation  imposed upon Kurdish Peoples’ Leader Abdullah Ocalan and to support Hakkari MP Leyla Guven. I was placed in a solitary confinement cell because I started a hunger strike. My weekly phone call was banned. There are arbitrary practices here all the time. I wasn’t taken to the hospital and my treatment was barred because I didn’t accept to be handcuffed on the way to the hospital.”

KAPLAN’S FATHER: WE ARE CONCERNED

Father Mehmet Kaplan said: “My child is sick. This practice is not legal or humane. The prison administration said ‘We are the state, we can do whatever we want, go complain to wherever you want’ before. We did appeal to the Ministry of Justice, but nothing changed. I am concerned for my son’s health.”
