IHD (Human Rights Association) lawyers applied to the UN for DBP Şırnak administrator Hurşit Külter who has been missing since state forces arrested him in Şırnak on May 27. State forces and officials have been denying that Külter was arrested.
DBP Şırnak administrator Hurşit Külter had been residing at his house in Bahçelievler neighborhood since March 14 when the genocidal attacks of state forces began in Şırnak, and had asked his family’s blessing and said that he was surrounded by state forces in a message he sent on May 27.
Special operations forces carrying out the genocidal attacks on Şırnak had announced that Külter was arrested in a tweet they shared in the social media account "BÖF @Tweet_Guneydogu".
After officials from the Police Headquarters, Public Prosecution Office, 23rd Gendarme Border Division Command, and Governorate in Şırnak said that Külter was not arrested in response to their inquiries, the lawyers took action in the international arena.
IHD lawyer cited the UN convention on the protection of everyone against forced abductions and requested the UN to inquire into Külter’s whereabouts after suspicions of Külter’s execution emerged when a tweet was shared on the "BÖF @Tweet_Guneydoğu" saying that "Hurşit Külter, who declared self-administration in front of cameras, asked for blessings in a sewage ditch and is now in hell."
In their application, the lawyers raised concerns over the well being of Külter and recalled that Kurdish towns such as Cizre, Nusaybin, Sur, Silopi and Dargeçit have been famous for extrajudicial executions since the 1990s. In the application, the lawyers emphasized that Külter’s life was in danger and Külter’s father Hamdi Külter requested the UN’s involvement in the situation.
